Daily activity:
Thursday 02nd: water temp 70.7 ESE 8-12mph in the a.m. / 73.0 S 17-22mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The Pompano bite cooled some from the past few days, but several were still caught. George got a huge one that was between 4-5 pounds. Spanish Mackerel were caught throughout the day. Hachid is the man! He showed up midafternoon and said he was going to catch a King. Fifteen minutes later he did just that. He was casting his jerk bait and got hit by a nice King. It was about 20 pounds. Congrats Hachid!

Friday: water temp 70.2 ENE 4-9mph in the a.m. / 73.9 SE 7-10mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There were over 20 Pompano caught throughout the day. Brenda reached her limit early in the morning and also decked a Red Drum. The Spanish Mackerel were thick with several anglers getting their limit of 15. Lorena, a first-time pier fisherwoman got her limit. Casey threw on a nice Cobia only to have it eat the Squid tipper off the jig and not eat the jig. Squid were being caught all day. Cigar minnows were caught in the early morning. None were around for the rest of the day.


Saturday: water temp 71.8 E 5-10mph in the a.m. / 74.1 SE 8-10mph in the p.m. The water was clean. Squid, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano and the first Cobia of the year. Slick decked a 37.5-inch Cobia. There were two King Mackerel Hooked. A visiting angler decked one and the other was lost.
Sunday: water temp 72.7 SSE 4-7mph in the a.m. / 72.9 SW 4-6mph wind in the p.m. The water was clear. There were Squid, Spanish Mackerel and Pompano caught. Jacob J. decked a 36.5-inch Cobia.
Monday: water temp 70.3 NNE 12-17mph in the a.m. / 69.6 NE 8-15mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The morning brought a few Pompano, Spanish Mackerel and a lot of Bonita up to 5-pounds like this one Hayden caught. Jake hooked a King Mackerel but got cut off in the pilings. The afternoon produced more Bonita, a few Spanish Mackerel and lots of Squid. Cigar Minnows and Speedos were thick.
Tuesday: water temp 68.4 ENE 8-12mph in the a.m. / 69.3 NE 11-20mph in the p.m. The water was clean. Jose got a Bonita this morning. There were also a couple of Spanish Mackerel, lots of Cigar minnows and Squid. Hachid had a big King Mackerel follow his plug but didn’t bite. A few Pompano were caught in the morning and afternoon. Here are two of the three Charlie decked. Large schools were coming through but very few would bite. The high NE Wind was making it almost impossible to present a jig. Bait disappeared during the afternoon, but Squid were still being caught.
Wednesday 08th: water temp 67.8 ENE 5-13mph in the a.m. / 68.9 ESE 8-18mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There was a 30-minute Bonita run early in the morning. Spanish Mackerel were caught throughout the day, but they were scattered. The Pompano bite was good just after daylight. Brenda and a couple of other anglers reached their limit. The remainder of the day, a few more were caught. Squid were there all day. Renee shows a triple she caught.

ALERT: The Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announces the return of the Gulf Coast Salute Air Show, taking place April 10–12 at Russell-Fields City Pier in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. This free event will debut a new festival site at Aaron Bessant Park and feature an exciting lineup of performances, military displays, interactive STEM experiences, a diverse selection of vendors and nonstop entertainment for all ages. The City Pier will be closed so expect the County Pier to be crowded.
Red Tide status: In Northwest Florida over the past week, K. brevis was not observed this week.
